Massage can be great for swollen feetMassage helps to reduce stress. Too much stress when in the workplace can be hard on the feet and cause them to swell. Massage your feet and help them relax. When you increase the circulation of the blood up to the foot, it helps to open the small blood vessels in the foot. This increased blood flow helps to wash away the waste that accumulates in the foot and can cause swelling.
The increased blood flow also helps to flush out the calcium that accumulates in your foot. Calcium is one of the causes of poor nail growth. This can cause the nail to chip off then eventually fall off. Reduce your load if you have been diagnosed with swollen feet. This will not only reduce the pain that can be caused by the swollen feet, but will prevent them from getting worse. Add some foot powder or foot antiperspirant to your shoes, this will help to soak up the sweat that is produced by your feet as well as help to stop the swelling from growing worse. It is very important that you keep the area clean and dry. Make sure that you completely remove any footwear, wax, nail polish and deodorant from your feet and replace them with 100% cotton or other absorbent cloth. It is a very good idea to wear sandals around the house to let the feet breathe and allow the feet to regain their moisture. You should avoid wearing non-absorbent socks and instead replace them with absorbent socks. It is a good idea to wrap the feet up in a blanket while you are sleeping to allow the feet to breathe. If the pain is really bad a apple cider vinegar soak can be used. The acidity of the vinegar will help to reduce the swelling. For at the least, say the onset of the problem you should always try to elevate the affected foot. Having your feet elevated will help to minimize the swelling, and can provide the foot with extra moisture to help with the problem. It is important to avoid too much alcohol in your blood and your body as a whole. Alcohol will only dehydrate your body, and occasionally will cause swelling. It is also a good idea to change out shoes at least every other day, and to change socks at least once a day. This is especially important if you have been doing a lot of barefoot walking where the feet have a chance to not get as moisture as they would in more digging shoes. The best way to treat swollen feet that are caused by moisture is to moisture wick into a ball of wool or other absorbent fabric. This keeps your feet dry by absorbing the excess moisture. If you are prone to having swollen feet, you might want to give numbing creams a shot, just to be on the safe side. Not only is it painful to apply cream on to the feet, but it can also cause the swollen to worsen. It is also a good idea to wear sandals around the house to allow your feet some air to breath. Few people realize how much damage they can do to the feet by being in constant shoes. If your feet seem to always swell it is a good idea to change your shoes and socks a few times a day to provide relief to the inflammation of the foot and some relief from the pain.
