Massage Studies

Massage Studies
In December 2008, according to a study published in the Digestive Disease Week's Supplement (Dec. 19, 2008), massage therapy was recommended as an aid to digestion. Part of the recommendation was that people suffering from a dysfunctional or chronic condition should seek out the assistance of a licensed massage therapist. The study's authors suggested that massage should be incorporated into a therapy plan as part of a holistic approach to healthcare.

The available research literature is inconclusive as to the benefits of massage therapy. Some studies have shown facial massage, massaging the arms or legs, to have an emotional benefit to those who undergo the treatment. Other studies have found that massage has a stimulating effect on acupuncture points at certain points on the body. So, massage could act as an aid to both physical and emotional healing.

The use of massage has a long history and is recommended by physicians, nutrition professionals, and even prominent health professionals. Excessive pressure to the immune system can drain the capacity of the immune system to function, making it more susceptible to illness. Massage therapy helps to support the immune system, reduces pain, and may enhance the efficacy of prescription drugs.

The Digestive Disease and Spine Institute's seeks to educate the public on significance of digestive health. If you or someone you know has been suffering boredom or agony from digestive health issues, you owe it to yourself to investigate this treatment.

If you are not familiar with the digestive system, it is important to know that it is responsible for providing fuel for the body: to maintain optimal bodily function, you need to know your digestive tract. It is a primary reason why we are often hungry and often have food cravings.

The human digestive system is made up of the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum and the anus. It is your mouth that harbors the digestive enzymes that help process food. Developing healthy digestive enzymes is essential to improving your health, but it doesn't stop there. Developing the right amount of enzymes is also important to proper bowel movement. If the right amount of enzymes is present, the body is more able to absorb the nutrients from the food; the result is more energy.

If the liver is working efficiently and is purifying your blood, you will have more energy. If the right amount of enzymes is present, the digestive tract is working efficiently to eliminate waste from the body. This will help to support a healthy immune system.

You can ensure that your digestive system is working efficiently by changing what you eat. Eating a healthy diet will not only help you to lose weight and maintain an ideal weight, it will improve your digestive health. According to Medical News Today, in addition to improving your immune system, following a healthy diet of real food, which is free of chemicals and pesticides will enhance the efficiency of the digestive system.

You must develop the habit of drinking plenty of pure water. When your body is dehydrated, your digestive system is slowed down. In addition to the slow down, you may suffer from constipation, decreased energy, and cold, dry mouth. When you drink water, your body is allowed to run its natural cycles.

You must exercise regularly. Becoming sweaty is not the same as exercising. We need to sweat in order to properly cleanse our armpits and prevent mucus from becoming hard and dense. It moistens the mucus so that it can be eliminated. Although it is an inconvenience to exercise in warm, air conditioned rooms, it is worth the discomfort for you to exercise. You should not assume that you will not get dehydrated if you exercise. When the weather is hot, you should drink water before and after you exercise, just as you would drink water during exercise.

You should eat foods rich in pectin. Pectin can be found in apples, chicken, bananas, oranges, peaches, pears, tomatoes, and white beans. Pectin enhances the strength of the immune system. The indirect means of getting pectin includes eating plums, dates, apples, blackberries, almonds, cashews, bananas, watermelon, elevated peas, lima beans, radishes, strawberries, cherries, cabbage, and raisins. The source of pectin can be found in leafy greens, poultry, meat, grains, nuts, seeds, and plenty of water.

You should eat brown rice and whole grain breads. Growing children need to consume foods containing beta carotene. This vitamin is a form of carotenoid, and provides protection against a range of illnesses. It also curbs the effects of the sun in damaging the skin. Brown rice is rich in vitamin E. This vitamin provides protection from free radicals, and the two together help to boost the immune system. It can also protect the liver from the effects of toxins.
